MORE ABOUT THIS GIFT SET:

Nurture: Womb Oil

This blend of organic sesame oil is infused with eleven different herbs that support the newly postpartum mother in nurturing her womb space after birth. The time period immediately following birth and lasting for at least six weeks after is an extremely vulnerable time for a new mother. The physical womb and emotional womb begins a journey of returning to a state of emptiness, and the body, mind, and emotional heart of the mother must integrate and embody her newly found motherhood. These herbal allies assist women on this vulnerable journey. This oil is infused using ancient Ayurvedic medicine making methods.

Suggested Use: Warm the oil before use. Massage mama’s abdomen in a gentle, clockwise motion each day. Follow with belly paste, and belly wrapping.

Ingredients: Organic sesame oil, organic brahmi oil, white peony root, ashoka, shankapushpi, dashamula, blue lotus, red rose petals.

100% Organic Ingredients.

Belly Paste

In Ayurveda, the tradition is to cover a postpartum mama’s abdomen with a fragrant herbal paste made of spices and essential oils. This Ayurvedic mix of organic spices is healing and warming to the skin. It will help brighten the skin, and may eliminate excess water/fat and aid the belly wrapping practice to recondition the postpartum tummy. Please note, since it contains turmeric this may temporarily stain the skin and clothing.

Suggested Use: After massaging the abdomen with warm Womb Oil, combine 2 tablespoons of this powder mixture with 3-4 tablespoons of warm sesame oil + 2-3 drops lime essential oil OR 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice. Apply to mama’s entire abdomen and sides with a brush or your hands before belly binding.

Ingredients: Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) powder, ginger (Zingiber officinale) root powder, turmeric (Curcuma longa) root powder, cinnamon (Curcuma longa) bark powder.

*100% Organic Ingredients.

Belly Wrap Cloth

Traditionally, belly wrapping is done with a long piece of cotton cloth, wrapped many times around your entire torso and hips. This secure container supports your organs in returning to their pre-pregnancy size and position, helping you to heal faster and more completely. It also brings a feeling of emotional and physical stability and support.

Benefits of belly wrapping are received after 20 minutes of wearing a belly wrap. You can wrap your belly right after birth and wear the belly wrap 24/7 during the 6-8 week Sacred Postpartum Window if you desire to do so. Aim to wear it 10-12 hours per day. If you plan to belly wrap daily for 6 weeks, you will want to have 3-5 cloths on hand. Belly wrapping is safe for mothers who have cesarean births, as long as it feels comfortable and she feels ready.

Many postpartum traditions from cultures around the world include a form of belly wrapping. The benefits of belly binding or belly wrapping may include:

  • It helps to slim the ribcage, abdomen and hips.

  • Pulls in the separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) back together.

  • Encourages healing from pelvic/pubic separation (a partial bind during pregnancy can be especially beneficial for pelvic support).

  • Supports relaxed and stretched out muscles.

  • Reduce fluid and air retention in bowels/abdomen.

  • Gets rid of the “empty” feeling after childbirth.

  • Nurtures the mother in a time of vulnerability and healing.

  • Prevents back pain. While wearing it, you are reminded to sit and walk straight, a good antidote to the “nursing-slouch”.

  • Decreases postpartum bleeding time by speeding up the process of getting rid of waste blood in a natural way.

  • It’s an ancient traditional natural way of healing after birth.

This gift set includes ( 1 ) one cotton muslin cloth that is 18 feet by 1 feet in size. Additional belly wrap cloths can be purchased separately HERE.
